The Z50000, also known as the Nouvelle Automotrice Transilien (NAT), Francilien, or Spacium 306, is a dual-voltage multiple unit built by Bombardier in Crespin between 2009 and 2022 following a tender launched in 2004. The first commercial service took place on December 14, 2009, on the Transilien H line, between Paris-Nord and Luzarches.
These trains were intended to replace the older stainless steel trains (Z5300, Z6100, Z6400) and some RIB/RIO trains on suburban lines from the Saint-Lazare, Gare du Nord, and Gare de l'Est stations.
As of December 9, 2022, the NAT fleet was complete, comprising 360 trains distributed across the Transilien E, H, J, K, L, and P lines and the RER. The NAT Z50000 trains are the most spacious in France (hence their original name, Bombardier Spacium) with a width of 3.060m: a record! They are available in different configurations: 8-car and 7-car.
