Transport Fever 2 - Caledonian Railway Class 76 2-2-2
Obscure Victorian engine? Don’t mind if I do!
This engine is not well known, famous, or even an experimental failure like a few of my other mods. This engine was inspired by one painting I saw online (I added it to the photos that are scrolling above).
This engine is probably more of an amalgamation of different but very similar models that were used by the CR from 1848 to 1860. I have picked the one in the middle that best matched the description of the painting and the photos I used as references online.
So, what is a Class 76?
This engine is a large 8ft 2in single wheeler in a 2-2-2 configuration, built upon the principle of the Crewe Type at the St. Rollox works in Glasgow. These engines were the mainstay of passenger (and sometimes freight I guess) duties on the Caledonian in their early days.
This model comes with a small 4 wheeled coach in an approximate Caledonian livery, but without the crest, so you can use it anywhere.
This model features:
High quality mesh
Higher resolution textures than usual for me
Dynamic numbers on cab side and front buffer beam
Full colouring and aging effects (I finally figured it out)
Custom sound-set
